HK: food and memories

I spent three weeks in HK at the start of this year, where I had just moved back from six months earlier. It was actually kind of ironic; my company wanted me to move back for a promotion, but I balked, knowing well the hassle it entails: cargo-ing Kira back, paying rent, LDR – the same game show all over again.

So instead, I chose to spend 3 weeks there to cover in the interim. And boy, was I lonely! Holed up in a minuscule hotel room on the Dark Side (TST), always cold and often hungry. I must have done nothing but worked my ass off in the first week.

Then D came, and the clouds cleared, the sun shone and the angels sang – metaphorically of course. And as do all skinny men, he ate like a cow, and I ate like a lady cow. I must have never eaten so much local food before – pre-2013, I was an avid hater of all Chinese food and all carb forms. Post-2013, I’m like anyone else and weighing lighter than before. God works in mysterious ways.

My favorite comfort food eats in HK:
